As I noted in my last i-Light post, my leg is relatively hair free. I do find some lingering hairs here and there, but it is nothing too obvious. The skin is relatively smooth, even when you run a hand over the skin. There is the softest and faintest tickle of stubble. Again, nothing overtly bothersome. I can see tiny pinpricks of light black hair right underneath the top of the skin. It is nothing blatantly obvious if you aren't looking for it.

The underarm and leg sessions go like clockwork. There is nothing special to report about my underarm. It is smooth and as hairless as can be. I do see pinpricks of hair underneath the skin here too, but I haven't seen any real growth here since my fourth session. The Remington is doing its job keeping the hair growth at bay.

My leg is almost hair free on one side (the side that doesn't require awkward bending) but still peppered with hairs here and there on the side that requires me to bend myself into uncomfortable positions in order for me to position the handset correctly. The rubber band stings on my lower leg have gradually decreased. It's not entirely gone, but I feel it less and less with each passing session.

The most bothersome part of the entire process is now the cleaning of the handset. The amount of burnt hair I find on it always varies after sessions. Sometimes, there's barely anything. Sometimes, there's tons of hair soot. Today, there was a ton of hair soot. It takes me longer to clean the handset than it does to complete an underarm and leg session!
The first was Peter Thomas Roth's Retinol Fusion AM/PM. The second was REN's Bio Retinoid Anti-Aging Concentrate. At the time, it was still new on the market so there were little to no reviews about it. I liked what it promised though - all the benefits of retinol without the aftereffects of redness and peeling skin.
REN's Bio Retinoid Anti-Aging Concentrate comes in a clear plastic bottle with a dropper top. As with all dropper tops, I have no problem with the way it dispenses the product, but I dislike it repeatedly exposing the product to the air.

The concentrate is yellow and oily. Sometimes it looks like the product separates and sediments settle on the bottom of the bottle. I fix this by gently rolling the bottle to reincorporate the mixture. Though it claims not to contain any parabens, the oil has a nice pleasant scent to it. It is subtle.

The oil is easy to apply and takes a minute or two to completely settle into the skin. Like it promises, it keeps my skin smooth and blemish free without the effects of redness and peeling. It is also not drying. I did not use a moisturizer on top of the concentrate because I felt that the concentrate alone was moisturizing enough. I only used this at night.

Perhaps it's due to the lack of traditional aftereffects like redness and peeling, but I can't tell if REN's Bio Retinoid Anti-Aging Concentrate is better or worse than Peter Thomas Roth's Retinol Fusion AM/PM. With REN, I never had any dryness, redness, peeling, or purging. Those are all things that I normally associate with retinol working. All I know for sure is that REN's retinoid didn't make my skin any worse.

Overall, I personally feel that PTR's items are stronger and more effective.
The Retinol Fusion AM Moisturizer comes in a dark blue bottle with a pump top and cap. I like this design much better than the Retinol Fusion PM's. It limits air exposure to the product. The product is smooth and creamy. It is a bit on the runny side, but still pretty solid for a cream based product. It is very easy to apply.

I like that this product provides moisturization and UV protection as well as retinol benefits. My skin never feels dried out, like it would occasionally with the Retinol Fusion PM. It keeps my skin smooth and blemish free.

My only word of caution is that you definitely need to wear another layer of SPF when going outside. Either the retinol in this product is strong or the SPF is weak, but whatever the reason I started to get sunspots when I first started using this. I immediately doubled up on the SPF and stayed out of direct light. It helped, but I had to use other beauty products to help me banish those emerging sunspots.
It cleared away my acne like nothing else and smoothed my skin out. My doctor also jokingly warned me not to share my prescription with my mother. It also had anti-aging benefits he told me. Not that I would need it just yet. I always remembered that little bit of advice. So when it was time for me to look for anti-wrinkle skin care, I immediately thought of retin-a.

Unfortunately for me, retin-a is not an item sold over the counter. The cosmetic version of retin-a is retinol. It is much less potent, but still claims to have much of the same anti-aging properties of retin-a. One of the most well know cosmetic retinol items on the market is Peter Thomas Roth's Retinol Fusion PM serum.
Retinol Fusion PM comes in a dark blue bottle with a dropper top. As with Josie Maran's Argan oil, I dislike the dropper top since it repeatedly exposes the product to air. There is a lot of product to go through and I wouldn't want it to go bad before I finish using it.

Initially, I was shocked at how watery the serum appears to be. It is as clear as water too! The only giveaway that it is beauty product is that is it a bit oily to the touch. It is not what I expected a high end retinol serum to be like. It applies very easily though, but takes awhile to absorb into the skin. Sometimes the Retinol Fusion PM alone on my skin feels too drying. Other times it would be no problem at all.

My skin started purging during the first couple of days. It was nothing major and everything subsided once my skin got used to the serum. I realized about two weeks of applying it that the typical retinol effect of drying and peeling started to take place. It works!

I only use this as night since the serum doesn't contain anything that protects your skin during the day. Anyone using any type of retin or retinol product should steer clear of direct sunlight. Retin/retinol makes your skin super sensitive to sun damage.

I still lament that it is not as strong as prescription retin-a, but PTR retinol keeps my skin relatively blemish free and smooth.
I have a bottle of it for those intensely dry skin days, but never thought about using it for my orbital eye area. The idea of putting any kind of oil around my eyes instinctively repel me. These are echoes of leftover skincare education about how any kind of oil on the face is always bad. However, I know from experience that oil for the skin as a cleanser or moisturizer can do wonders. So why couldn't argan oil help with restoring moisture to the eye area? Especially since argan oil contains vitamin e and fatty acids.
Josie Maran's Argan Oil comes in an glass amber bottle with a dropper top. Using the dropper isn't bothersome or messy. The dropper helps dispense the precise amount of product you want. My only complaint is that the in-out motion of the dropper repeatedly exposes the argan oil to air. It can't possibly help with the shelf life. I wish the product also included a pump top.
I put one drop of argan oil on the palm on my hand. With my ring finger, I dabbed at it in circular motions to warm it up a bit. Then I apply it the same way I normally apply my eye creams. It doesn't feel heavy or greasy. It is very lightweight feeling. It takes a minute or two for the product to completely absorb into the skin. After the argan oil, I apply my regular eye cream over it.

The next day my undereye skin glows. It's simply amazing. Within the course of a week, I have seen the smile lines around my eyes slowly smooth over. It's not completely gone, but it is much better than it's been within the last year. I am now truly converted to argan oil as an all over moisturizer.

Sidenote: I have also been using Le Métier de Beauté's Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo before applying the argan oil daily. I have to say that the two combined are a potent combination. I suspect argan oil alone will be fairly effective as well. To think I've invested so much time into looking at various types of eye cream when a tiny bottle of argan oil has provided me with the effects I have been so desperately looking for!
Keeping the eye area hydrated prevents the onset of fine lines and reduces the appearance of dark circles (more moisture means better blood circulation around the eyes). With that in mind, I decided to pay more attention to eye creams that promise more hydration to the skin around the eyes.

Clinique's All About Eyes Rich captured my attention because it is supposed to be exactly like All About Eyes but with extra moisturization for the eye area. All About Eyes has been my eye cream staple for years, so I looked forward to trying out the Rich version. It might be all that I need for my newly aging undereye area.
Moisture-rich eye cream diminishes the look of undereye circles,
shadows, fine lines-instantly and over time. De-puffs, calms with
botanicals. Helps boost natural collagen production. Strengthens skin's
moisture barrier against common irritants. Ophthalmologist Tested.

Like the original, All About Eyes Rich comes in a clear plastic pink pot with a chrome screw on top. The texture of the cream is smooth and a bit thicker than the original. It is still very easy to apply.

The Rich version hydrates like it promises!

Like all good Clinique products I have used, I see results the next day. The undereye area looks brighter and plumper. It is not drastic improvement, but it is enough that it is noticeable. Continuous use maintains and improves the effects of the eye cream. However after awhile I stop noticing results. If I stop for a week or so and reuse the cream, I can see the effects again.

Rich moisturizes, but I don't know if it is moisturizing enough for me during the winter months when my entire body just dries up from head to toe. I may switch to from the regular version to the Rich version for everyday use, but I still have to find a good super rich moisturizing eye cream for those super harsh days.
Two whole months of continuous IPL. I admit I didn't always manage to keep it to strictly one week intervals. When I got busy or too tired, I skipped the day I was supposed to restart my session and used my IPL machine the next day instead. Overall, I always managed to do one session a week.

My underarm is virtually smooth with the exception of a short hair here and there. I am not seeing or feeling any new hair growth. I am truly amazed at how well it worked on this part of my body. The only way I will be able to tell if there will be any future growth on my underarm is to stop using the i-LIGHT completely.

Looking at my leg, I can honestly say that it is mostly hair free. Running my hand over the skin, I can tell I have new growth. Very fine. Very subtle. It is soft, not coarse or prickly. I can see my leg remaining this way if I continue my weekly Remington sessions. If I stop now, it is definitely not permanent. The question is if the hair with remain the same or be finer than before. I often wished I never started shaving my legs so my leg hair would still be super soft and fine. (No one ever listens to their mother about this.) Even if IPL doesn't permanently remove hair, maybe it can turn back the clock.

I think I will continue on with my sessions for another four months - to the half year mark - to see if I can't get some permanent results.

With that said, my tenth session went smoothly. I finished my underarm in the blink of an eye without any discomfort. The snapping rubber band sensation is lessening on my lower leg too. It is definitely coming from areas where there is more hair growth activity. I can't feel it at all in the areas where the skin is smooth with no stubble.

I got a bigger amount of sooty residue on the handset than last time. It is really hard to get off. I think the heat of the light helps cake the hair soot on the handset. Gentle swipes with the cleaning cloth include eventually removes all traces of soot.
It was recently release in January 2013. Le Métier de Beauté drummed up a bunch of publicity about their new eye mask online. Many bloggers have raved about the performance of their new eye mask.

Until I read the reviews from other websites, I really had no interest whatsoever in Le Métier de Beauté. They are primarily a cosmetics brand. I have heard of their makeup line being fan favorites, but since I am more a skin care junkie than a makeup junkie, I haven't paid much attention to them. I also admit to being skeptical of a makeup company producing skin care. However, the rave reviews and before & after photos of the Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo effects piqued my interest, especially in light of my eye care journey.

I picked up Le Métier de Beauté's Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo during the Neiman Marcus Beauty Event. That's when I learned that this eye mask is already high in demand. It instantly sold out at my location. I ran home with my purchase and waited for a convenient day to test it out.
The packaging is simple. It comes in a sleek black box with eight individual packets. The packets are also black and have an easy pull open design located on the lower left corner. The eye masks rest in a plastic tray. I noticed as I removed the tray that there is excess solution in the packing - I presume to keep the product moist. The eye masks are translucent and gel-like.
Many reviewers have claimed that the eye mask stays put and does not budge. I do not find this to be the case. They do migrate south. How much depends on what you're doing. I ate the first time I used them and it slipped about a fourth of an inch downward (and would have continued) before I had to pull them back up. If I don't do anything with my facial muscles, they slide down about a tenth of an inch. It's not enough to be bothersome, but enough that it's noticeable, especially if you're trying to get the product as close to the lash line as possible. There is no problem trying to walk around with them on your face. Overall, they stay in the general area of the face where they're supposed to be without any extra help nor do they require you to stay completely stationary.

When I removed them, I felt a warming tingling sensation. I quickly ran to the mirror to check my reflection. Keep in mind, I have no problems with puffiness. My main worries are about the beginning of fine lines and dark circles. I checked my eyes from several angles, but I couldn't see a difference. I was very disappointed. I decided to finish the rest of my night routine and go to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I noticed the skin around my eyes seemed much brighter even though I only had about six hours of sleep.

I decided to try the eye mask again the following night to see if I get more visible results - either immediately or the next day. This time, there seemed to be a softening of fine lines when I smiled. My eye area also seem much more refreshed than it should have been after another measly six hours of sleep.

I decided to try it again for the third day in a row. This time, I could see immediately changes to my eye area. The smile lines around my eyes have definitely soften a bit. The general eye area is brighter. I can see why this is so popular now. It has definitely earned the rave reviews it has gotten online.

If the effects are long lasting, I may have to look into other Le Métier de Beauté skin care products.
favorite item from Kiehl's so far is the Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing
Concentrate. I loved it from the minute I used my first sample pack. This is

I am looking for smoothing out fine lines and brightening. According to the website, this is the eye cream for me. Used for a couple of days by itself, I am not convinced that this works. I see some brightening. I see absolutely no smoothing. Lastly, I don't feel as if this cream is very moisturizing.

While I don't hate it, I don't love it either. It did nothing for my eyes, but it didn't make it worse.
Unfortunately for me, my age is starting to show around my eyes. Nothing noticeable when I'm not making any facial expressions, but I now have very obvious crinkles around my eyes when I smile where there was nothing there before. I need something to tame the emergence of these fine lines. While searching for a good eye cream, I stumbled onto Kiehl's, a brand I have heard of, but never used before.

I had some samples of their products so I decided to give it a try and see how I liked it. The main thing that piqued my interest is the 10.5% concentration of vitamin c. I can also use the extra brightening to combat the dark circles under my eyes.
The product comes in a tiny 0.5oz tube. The texture is smooth, but looks slightly lumpy (think hummus like texture). Like the Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate, the Line-Reducing Eye-Brightening Concentrate has a warming effect on application. It is a very nice soothing sensation. After just a couple of days of use, I could tell that my eye area turned brighter and the lines started to lessen a tiny bit. Used for a month, the brightening of the eye and softening of fine lines become more obvious. It hasn't fixed my problem completely, but it has left my area area better than it has been.
Or if any online retailers that shipped to the USA carried it. I noted that some places in the DC/NYC area got the Guerlain Sakura G blush. Since I am enamored with how well and flattering the Perles du Paradis work on me, I don't need it. Though I am jealous that parts of the US market get access to it and other parts don't.

Then I noticed that Selfridges (a UK retailer) carried it! Why? Why do I no longer live in the UK?? They have several items I want in stock. The hardest to find is the Blanc de Perle Météorites Compact UV Shield 30. No one sells it online. Except for eBay...

However I did luck out and got my hands on the Blanc de Perle Météorites. I placed the order and eagerly awaited its arrive to my doorsteps.

I must admit, as with the Perles du Paradis, the Blanc de Perles does not travel well. My container arrive with lots of loose météorites powder collected on the bottom of the tin, leftover on the puff, and on the lid. While I don't mind too much, since it will ultimately go on my face, I do like to see the perfect little perles resting in the tin before I take a makeup brush to them.

The perles are really white. There are three different sizes and three different shades of white I can see so far. They are also the sparkliest météorites I have ever encountered. I have mixed feelings about it at this point. I can see this being great for highlighting specific areas, but I am unsure of how it would look on the face.

However, as with other Guerlain météorites, arm swatches are deceiving. On the face it is brightening and illuminating. There is a hint of sparkle, but it is not overwhelming like it is on the arm. I'm guessing it also appears to have more sparkles because it is all white (which reflects light) and 2 of the 3 shades I see do contain shimmer. Overall, this is beautiful and I'm glad I managed to track down a tin of it.
I suppose I could keep this up long term and never have to shave, wax, or epilate again. I could just have weekly IPL sessions since the discomfort doesn't really bother me.

For my long term IPL goal, I think I will keep up my weekly IPL sessions for a couple of months after the recommend stop period to try to instill longer lasting effects before I stop using my Remington completely. Then I might stop to see if or when and how long it takes for new hair to grow back.

My underarm goes over smoothly without any issues as usual. While the rest of the session with my leg goes quickly too, the lower part of my lower leg (around the ankles and lower calf) still experiences the snapping rubberband sensation. The stinging area is smaller compared to last week's so that is good news. I can only feel a soothing warming sensation over the rest of the leg.

The handset is kinda of sooty afterwards. It takes a long time to sit there with the cleaning towel to wipe off all the hair-soot. Though this step is important and vital in keeping your IPL system working in pristine condition.
Many people say there isn't much of a difference and it comes down to personal preference between the two types. My take so far is that Shine Automatique is a bit glossier than Rogue Automatique colors.

Of the 4 Spring 2013 colors, I had narrowed it down to Romance (601) from Rouge Automatique and Rendez-Vous (762) from Shine Automatique. Romance is the color of my lips. Rendez-Vous is almost the same shade. It's a "my lips but better" shade. It is a soft blue rosy pink. So I decided to get Rendez-Vous from the Shine Automatique collection too. I had to pass on Flirt (761) because it is a bold purple pink shade. It's almost fuchsia. It's too cool toned for me and I prefer to stick with more natural looking makeup.

Like the Rouge Automatique, it comes in a unique slide dispenser. The application is smooth and glides on. The feel of the lipstick is light. As with the Rouge Automatique, the formula is not too drying but also not super moisturizing. It is just moisturizing enough for long term wear without the need to constantly reapply.

Though it is such a natural soft looking pink, the shade is almost unique. I looked around to see if there were other shades like it and while some come close there isn't one exactly like Rendez-Vous. Between Romance and Rendez-Vous, I would have to say that I prefer Rendez-Vous since it's so flattering on me and a harder shade to find in other brands.
The upcoming lines have less items that appeal to me, so I am revisiting Guerlain's Cils d'Enfer collection one last time before the Terracotta and Terra Ora collection eclipses it.

I chose Romance (601) over Ballade (600) because Romance is the almost the exact shade of my natural lip color. It's a nude pink. Whereas Ballade is a peachy pink. There are the subtlest hints of orange in it. Orange tends to make me look yellow, so I didn't want to chance it with Ballade. Of the 4 Spring 2013 lip colors, the Guerlain SA recommended Romance for me. He also agreed that Romance is the almost exact shade of my lips. So I ran home with Romance in my hot little hands.

The formula is smooth and glides on during application. This is my first Guerlain lipstick, so I had no idea their Automatique lipsticks came in a unique dispenser. All I do is pull the button down and the lipstick rises out of the tube. Definitely convenient when you only have one hand to apply your lipstick with.

The Rouge Automatique isn't drying nor super moisturizing, but it's comfortable for long term wear without the need to reapply constantly. Since I'm more a of a lip gloss and lip balm girl than a lipstick girl, this left me pleasantly surprised.
The description for the meteorite primer describes it as a mix of white, yellow, pink and gold. I am not seeing much pink in the picture. It looks mostly white, gold, bronze to me. It's definitely a primer for bronzing. The BB cream intrigues me too. I wonder what shades it will come in?
Unfortunately for me, I am fair skinned and cannot tan to save my life. (I never tan, I burn.) As a result, I have very little understanding of bronzers.
I admit I have very little interest in this line, but I have heard good things about about Guerlain bronzers. Other than bronzing, they can be used lightly for a subtle glow or for contouring. I think I may pick up the Terracotta 4 Seasons Bronzing Powder to test out.
Available from February 2013. The entire line is absolutely stunning! I love the concept of glowing like a pearl. I wish this collection was available in the USA because I would love to get my hands on both skin care and make up items. It would probably break the bank.
Doesn't it just look gorgeous? If I had to pick just one item, it would be a Blanc de Perle Meteorites. Visually, the meteorites are just stunning. I imagine they are even better on the skin. Luckily for me, the Blanc de Perle Meteorites are not that hard to find online.
Oddly enough, the only think I could live without is the Sakura G blush. While it is beautiful and I would buy one if it were easily accessible, it's nothing I have to hunt down. My Perles du Paradis are currently my favorite and most used meteorites. It functions wonderfully as a highlighter and a blusher. From the swatches and reviews I have seen, it doesn't compare to Perles du Paradis.

I could ramble on and on about this collection. Instead I will end it with product descriptions of the Blanc de Perle line.
My underarm looks and feels the same. My leg looks a bit dry. I can't tell if that is from the weather or from the IPL heat, but it's nothing that a bit of lotion can't fix.

Looking at my underarms it looks clean, but closely examining it shows dark roots still. Running my hand over my leg, I can barely feel anything. Even the stubble is very soft. It doesn't feel prickly or rough.
Two more weeks until the two month mark. To be honest, I feel that noticeable results have plateaued since my fourth session. There are very minor differences here and there with each session, but they are extremely hard to capture on camera.

My underarm has made remarkable progress. I still have some baby stubble here and there, but I am optimistic that my remaining sessions will zap it all away.

My leg is another story. I didn't experience much discomfort in the beginning, but halfway through my journey the lower part of my leg started to experience the burning snapping rubber band sensation. I can't make heads or tails of it. I have been going along with the assumption that there is more hair or new growth in the area that the IPL needs to target.

As it has been lately, the eighth session is extremely fast. My underarm goes without a hitch. The only blip is when I feel a bit of discomfort on the lower leg area, but even that goes by quickly. Not much singed hair leftover on my body or handset.
I used this cream for two months in conjunction with the Even Better Corrector (until I ran out of the serum). During that time course, I didn't notice much dramatic skin tone evening. Though the moisturizer itself hydrates nicely and provides a good SPF base.

Once I finished with the Even Better serum, I paired the Even Better Moisturizer with the Turnaround Concentrate. I used the Turnaround serum with the Even Better cream in the morning (since it has SPF) and the Turnaround serum with the Turnaround cream at night.

With the Turnaround pairing, I found the Even Better Moisturizer to be much more effective. It didn't make a super dramatic difference, but it added a little something extra to my skin care routine. I also like that it is a skin tone evening day cream that I can use with the Turnaround line (which currently does not have a Turnaround day cream).

Nice to have, but not necessary if you already have the Turnaround serum and night cream set.
Puberty was not kind to my skin and I still look for ways to correct the ravages of overactive hormones. On top of that, since I have fair skin that burns easily and will not tan, I have to carefully select facial products that will agree with my skin. Clinique released Even Better Skin Tone Corrector. A couple of years later, they updated the formula and released Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector. I have tried both versions.
our serum was comparable to a leading prescription ingredient in visibly
reducing dark spots-a verified 58% improvement at 12 weeks. For all

The old Corrector came in a regular tube with a chrome pump dispenser and a clear cap. The new Corrector comes in a seemingly larger tube doubled with clear plastic, a chrome pump dispenser, and a clear cap. The product itself is a opaque runny milky white. It is easy to access the serum with the pump, but once the product reaches the end stage, there's a good half an inch of product left in the tube that the pump cannot reach.

I have little sunspots here and there that I would like to get rid of so I excitedly tried this product and awaited the results. I used it day and night under the Even Better Moisturizer. I have to say that while it is effective, it takes awhile for results to appear. The final results are also not as dramatic as I would like them to be.

Overall, while I can definitely see results, I would choose Clinique's Turnaround Concentrate over the Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector. I find the Turnaround Concentrate to bring about better skin tone evening results compared to the Even Better Corrector. The Turnaround Concentrate provides dramatic and obvious results almost overnight. Even Better Corrector, while good, doesn't hold a candle to the Turnaround Concentrate.
